How to Stop Falling for (Unecessary) Health Trends
Feel exhausted trying to keep up with the “do this, not that” chaos of wellness culture? You’re not alone. Between TikTok hacks, new supplements hitting your feed every week, and entire food groups being canceled overnight (sigh), it’s no wonder so many of us are experiencing health trend fatigue. I see this all the time as a health coach! And that’s exactly why I started my podcast, Daily Deposits. This week’s episode inspired this post: a practical guide on how to stop falling for health trends and start trusting your body and common sense again.

Daily Deposits is a space where the noise gets filtered out, the science gets translated, and simple, doable habits take center stage. If you love honest wellness talk, make sure you’re subscribed to my (free) Substack newsletter!
Where Health Trends Originate
Health trends often begin with something legit (think a study, a nutrition experiment, someone’s personal success story, etc. ). But once the trend hits social media, most of the nuance completely disappears. In other words, what starts as helpful advice quickly becomes oversimplified, attention-grabbing soundbites designed to get clicks. In so many ways, this is what fuels health trend fatigue: that sense of constantly needing to try the next hack while feeling like your current habits are never enough. The truth is, you don’t need every new trend to feel well! People who consistently feel their best tend to focus on simple, reliable practices.
5 Strategies To Protect Your Time (and Sanity)
I’ve fallen for plenty of trends myself, but here’s the framework I now use to protect my time, energy, and sanity. These five strategies are the core of how to stop falling for health trends:
- Check the source. Who is sharing this trend? Are they transparent and credible? If someone’s credentials or methods are unclear, pause.
- Context in regards to your life. A hack might work for someone else, but does it fit your schedule, stress levels, and season of life? If not, skip it.
- Notice your feelings. If a tip makes you anxious, guilty, or ashamed, that’s a red flag.
- Plain English test. If the advice can’t be explained simply, be skeptical. Trends often rely on jargon to sell urgency.
- Think long-term. Can you see yourself following this in three months? If the answer is no, it’s not worth disrupting your routine.
In the podcast episode, I deep dive into how to use these simple steps to break the cycle of health trend fatigue and regain control over your wellness decisions.
